Not well known from the general public, the Opel Kadett GT/E is a car for true car lovers, which leaved its mark on the rally history. In addition to many racing victories, several rallye legends demonstrated their skills behind its wheel: Walter Röhrl, a young german talent at that time, Yves Loubet or Jean-Louis Clarr. They all kept great memories of the Kadett, “a simple car, but a true race car” according to Yves Loubet.
This chassis from 1978 used to belong to the Simon Racing team, driven as a training car by Jean Louis Clarr. He finished second in the French Rallye Championship this same year, driving the well known GTE with the BP livery, faithfully reproduced on this car.
A complete restoration has been carried out by the current owner. As a professional driver, he has done an high quality “Group 2” rebuilding, using the most performing parts he could: a ZF limited slip differential, a ZF 23 gearbox, Weber 48 twin barrel carburettors and AP racing brakes. Recorded on a power bench, the power produced reaches 215 horsepower for a weight of 1080 kg!
Nowadays the Kadett GT/E continues to shine in historic rallyes. Very competitive and ready to race thanks to its FIA Passport, this Kadett GT/E is perfect if you’de like to participate in famous events such as: Tour de Corse, Boucle de Spa or Monte Carlo historic.
